When Apple shipped AppleShare IP 5.0, it showed the world that the ease-of-use benefits of traditional AppleTalk services could be made available through industry-standard Internet protocols. The ShareWay IP Gateway brings the Internet accessibility of AppleShare IP to any AppleShare-compatible file server.

The ease of use of AppleShare... ShareWay IP maintains all the easy to use features Apple built into AppleShare file service, such as drag-and-drop access, aliases, view-by options and Find File.

...with Internet protocols. The ShareWay IP Gateway simply translates the underlying AppleTalk protocols used by AppleTalk Filing Protocol (AFP) servers into TCP/IP, the protocols used on the Internet. The Gateway brings the ease of use of AppleShare to your intranet or the Internet itself, and is essential for networks migrating from AppleTalk to TCP/IP protocols.

...and the Internet's reach: By using Internet protocols, ShareWay IP greatly extends the reach of your AFP server by enabling it to share files throughout the world simply by connecting it to the Internet.

...for any AppleShare-compatible file server. ShareWay IP supports any AppleShare-compatible file server utilizing AppleTalk Filing Protocol version 2.1 or later. These servers include the Mac OS's personal file sharing, AppleShare versions 3 and 4, and AFP servers running on other platforms such as Windows NT, Novell Netware and Unix.

Multiple versions available. ShareWay IP is available in multiple versions to support different server environments:

ShareWay IP Personal Edition is designed specifically to support the Mac OS's personal file sharing.
ShareWay IP Standard Edition supports a single AFP server running on any machine on your AppleTalk network.
ShareWay IP Professional Edition supports multiple AFP servers and provides advanced server management and security features.

Part of an extensive product line. The ShareWay IP Gateway is part of Open Door's line of networking products, which is designed to provide Macintosh users with Internet solutions that are as easy-to-use and as powerful as the Macintosh itself. The Gateway is especially effective when combined with AFP Engage! which lets users access AFP servers just by clicking AFP URLs on Web pages, email messages and anywhere else they may appear. Any AFP 2.1 or later server (includes Mac OS personal file sharing, AppleShare 3 or 4, Macintosh Services for Windows NT Server, etc.)
System 7.5.3 or later. System 7.6.1 or later and PowerPC for the Professional Edition.
Open Transport 1.1.2 or later.
AppleShare Client 3.7 or later needed for AppleShare access over TCP/IP.
A TCP/IP network, or Internet connectivity.
An AppleTalk network if support of non-Macintosh AFP servers is desired.
